Chemainus is one of Vancouver Island’s hidden jewels with a vibrant artisan scene. Seeking a Contract Coordinator for a one-year term (Mat Leave) with potential to extend. This position is to support the Chemainus Business Improvement Association’s (CBIA) Board of Management’s efforts to showcase and enhance the visibility of the area.
This job is a diverse mix of marketing, tourism, relationship building, advocacy and general community support. You are a proven a self-starter who can execute against a flexible planning schedule, have sound judgment, work with a minimum of supervision and demonstrate strong organizational and administrative skills. You are personable and approachable. You must ensure CBIA projects meet high standards set by the Manager/Director, the Board of Directors, its stakeholders and expectations of the community. Although this position will stand alone, you will be provided with guidance and support from the Board as well as the Director/Manager who is on maternity leave and will be given a general timeline to work from. During the course of the contract, if you are able to source and secure a grant to offset salary costs, we would be happy to consider the addition of an annual coordinator position upon the completion of this contract.
Reporting to the CBIA Board of Management, through the Chair, Director/Manager, or Designate, your general responsibilities include, but are not be limited to:
Implement programs, events, and advocacy steps as approved by the Board.
Administrative support for the Board to include general stakeholders.
Expertly work within an established budget to plan and execute selected CBIA events.
Ensure that exceptional customer service is delivered at all times.
Coordination, maintenance and review of beautification projects.
Maintenance of assets including signage, billboard, etc.
Establish, encourage and maintain positive, constructive and proactive relationships with stakeholders
Maintain key communication database of stakeholders and community groups
Advocate for businesses and policies as required and directed
