Business Watch Program Relaunched

Cowichan Community Policing and Crime Prevention has relaunched the Business Watch Program to assist businesses in reducing and preventing crime in the area. You must register to participate. It takes less than 5 minutes to register your information. The first step is to update the Property Reference information. This is the business contact information that the Detachment keeps on file for purpose of (mainly) after hour contacts and contacting businesses for an alert fanout. To register, download the “fillable” form here, complete, save a copy and email to: warmlandcops@shaw.ca. Alternatively, It can be filled out and printed and a representative from Community Policing can pick it up. Please call: 250-701-9145 to arrange pick up. The Business Watch Program operates like to Block Watch. Once Community Policing have received the business forms they will post signs (currently under development) and all participating businesses will be issued a window decal alerting police that their business participates in the Business Watch Program. There are great benefits to participating in this program including crime prevention training and fan-outs. It indicates a safe community and a shared responsibility between police and the business community. It also sends the message that crime won’t be tolerated here. If you have any questions or would like any assistance registering for this program, please contact Shelley, Coordinator for the CBIA at 250-800-1164 / coordinator@chemainusbia.com
